Landrush Begins at Midnight for XXX Domains
The new, Triple X Top Level Domain (TLD) – that’s “XXX domain extention” for those who don’t understand internet-speak, enters the Landrush phase of domain sales at midnight tonight. This means that members of the “sponsored community”, i.e. adult businesses, can begin purchasing their new porn domain names ahead of the general public.
In order to be able to take part in Landrush, adult businesses must have pre-registered themselves with the ICM registry and completed a sponsored community application.
It turns out this is easier said than done. And as complex as the process is, don’t expect any help from the ICM registry if you find yourself unable to complete the process. There are no phone numbers to call and emails to the registry will be answered slowly, if at all. Businesses that are not both determined and tenacious may find themselves the wrong side of the deadline and without the necessary pre-requisites in place to purchase the triple X domain names that are about to become the new lifeblood of the porn world. Dot com versions of adult domain names are likely to become obsolete overnight as their ten times as expensive XXX counterparts take over the newly partitioned online real estate of the adult business.
It seems likely that there will be fights, squabbles and lawsuits to come in the months that follow the release of these new domain names over who rightfully owns the new versions of thousands of adult domain names, and if the customer service of ICM thus far has been anything to go by, here’s hoping they’ve set aside some cash from their millions in profits to defend themselves against the lawsuits that are sure to follow.
It’s about to become a brave new world.

What a rip off this whole thing turned out to be… had to be the greatest scam in recent times… selling domains for $100 each that turned out to be absolutely worthless and impossible to resell.
